Daybreak is the morning breakfast show broadcast on ITV1 which airs from 6.00am to 9.25am. A mixture of current affairs, entertainment news, consumer issues and exclusive interviews with people from the day’s current news.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • News gathering
  • Coverage of the North of England
  • React quickly and appropriately to major news stories
  • Generate story ideas on a daily and weekly basis
  • Long term planning as well as reacting quickly to emerging stories
  • Working as a team player with your fellow Correspondents
  • Develop contacts across the board from politics to lifestyle
  • Contribute to the Website with a daily blog
  • Develop relationships with Producers, Editors and Futures department

Experience

  • Experienced TV journalist
  • Live on-screen television experience
  • Ability to self-edit and self-shoot
  • Solid and proven journalistic skills
  • Self-starter able to generate story ideas and maintain strong contacts in a large an demanding news patch
  • Ability to generate a list of story prospects daily, as well as long term, planning ideas
  • Desire and ability to provide Daybreak with exclusives and pursue story ideas independently
  • Ability to self-produce news and feature items directing camera crews on lives and for VTs

  • the role demands working irregular and anti-social working hours to produce quality VTs and authoritative live broadcasts
  • It's vital to establish and maintain good links with regional newsrooms and liaise with them regularly with regards to sharing material/contacts etc
