The team…
You will be joining the Global Risk Operations (GRO) team, a pivotal function with a comprehensive global remit. Our team is dedicated to supporting all ITV personnel in managing risks, ensuring duty of care, and safeguarding across our diverse and dynamic production environments.
The Global Risk Operations team is instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure workplace, enabling our staff to perform at their best. We provide expert guidance and implement robust risk management strategies to protect our people, uphold our values, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
The role…
As our dedicated Welfare and Safety Risk Advisor on a permanent basis, you will report into the Head of Duty of Care. This role is responsible for providing guidance on organisational welfare practices (policies, procedures and processes) for programme participants to a wide range of teams globally.
The role is responsible for the effective administration and coordination of participant welfare systems across ITV Studios and Media and Entertainment divisions. Additionally, the role may be called upon to help coordinate the Company's response to a significant welfare incident.
Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include::
- Advise and support ITV’s Health and Safety Risk Advisors to help ensure the Advisors can effectively deliver welfare risk management advice directly to productions.
- Collaborate with GRO, the Medical Advisors (Independent Chief Medical Officer and Consultant Clinical Psychologist) and other specialists to ensure that all organisational welfare practices are consistent with the Company’s requirements, laws and best practices.
- Use the relevant health and reporting systems (SPOT & RMT) to triage and document where support or mitigations are required for low, medium and high-risk productions.
- Effectively maintain the vetted list of Mental Health Advisors to Productions.
- Effectively maintain Compass and the Commissioning pages of ITV’s external website to reflect the latest guidance and advice.
- Support the primary investigator in conducting reviews of significant welfare incidents.
- Provide non-clinical assistance in crisis management situations where duty of care is a significant concern.
- Collect relevant data (i.e., metrics) related to participant welfare.
- Help identify where participant welfare needs to be strengthened and support by conducting structured risk assessments, audits and evaluations as needed.
- Evidence of high professional standards by acting within own area of expertise and referring enquiries to the appropriate service.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)...
- Relevant qualification in Risk Management, Healthcare or Health & Safety, for example the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Level 3
- Safeguarding knowledge experience and understanding of child protection
- Experience in Risk Management, Healthcare or Health & Safety or related roles.
- Experience with crisis management and incident response
- Minimum of Tech Iosh member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)...
- Experience in TV, Media or Entertainment is desirable but not essential
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and educate staff at all levels and in a variety of formats (written, lectures, training sessions, workshops, vodcasts etc)
- Ability to maintain a calm and effective approach in difficult situations.
- Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- There is opportunity for both UK and International travel within this role so this role will require a degree of flexibility in regards to travel.
- To have a degree of flexibility in being contacted out of standard office hours and have the ability to provide support in the event of an out of hours emergency.
