The team

ITV Studios Drama is home to some of the biggest talent in the business producing a vast range of content for all broadcasters across the globe. The labels under the ITV Studios banner include: 5 Acts, Etta Pictures, Happy Prince, Poison Pen, Silverprint Pictures, Tall Story Productions and Quay Street Productions.

The role

This role will work across all the ITV Studios Drama labels, alongside a team of a highly experienced Heads of Production and Production Executives, managing a portfolio of HETV dramas, providing an end-to-end production management service and ensuring delivery of high-quality drama productions in line with commissioned editorial briefs and within proposed time-frames, budgets and resources.

Role Responsibilities

  • To oversee the financial and operational management of a portfolio of dramas so that they are produced efficiently on schedule and on budget delivering to editorial brief.
  • To create budgets and schedules during the development phase of a project based on research, feasibility studies and industry knowledge including taking into consideration global tax incentives.
  • To plan, build and manage production teams and resources in line with specific commissions and ensure an appropriate range of diversity, skills and backgrounds.
  • Oversee the set-up of the production office and on-boarding process, ensuring production teams complete all mandatory Training.
  • To ensure that senior editorial colleagues and their teams have an understanding of, and comply with, ITV policies, guidelines, legislative and regulatory requirements in order to minimise ITV’s exposure to risk. 
  • To provide accurate updates on the status and health of the production portfolio, managing and mitigating any unforeseen events and highlighting areas of risk in time to find workable solutions throughout the lifespan of a production.
  • To work in conjunction with the Finance Team to ensure accurate reporting of production costs and cash flow forecasts and to ensure that production margins are protected.
  • To work closely with the Legal & Business Affairs team to ensure compliance of co-production agreements within a legal framework, assist with setting the level for key talent and overseeing the delivery of all contractual programme materials. 
  • To ensure that all productions have adequate insurance and any claims are managed through to completion.
  • To keep abreast of updated industry agreements including PACT/Bectu, PACT/Equity, DUK and WGGB.
  • To keep abreast of technology developments and work with ITV Studios technology teams to identify the most appropriate and efficient use of new technologies during prep, production and post-production.
  • Alongside senior editorial colleagues, manage production staffing matters in-line with company HR policy demonstrating a proactive approach towards fair selection, diversity, training, career development and team culture.

Please evidence the following criteria in your application.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)...

  • Previous experience of working on HETV dramas as Line Producer, Co-Producer, Production Executive or Head of Production for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Previous experience of working in TV Drama Production for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Extensive contacts database, including suppliers, agents and crew.
  • Expert knowledge of industry union agreements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of post-production processes.
  • Demonstrable evidence of successful budget management including an excellent knowledge of Movie-Magic Budgeting and Scheduling.
  • Industry training qualifications including (but not limited to) Safe Management of Productions or equivalent.

  • Confident in suggesting solution-focussed approaches to achieving editorial ambition with sensitivity to the pressures of production and the creative process.
  • An ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of different people and personalities at all levels, displaying a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Experienced in managing and mitigating any major crises or unforeseen events.
  • A high level of integrity particularly when dealing with HR issues and confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate passion and resilience with the ability to maintain performance and remain calm in the face of ever-changing priorities and workload.
  • Experience with foreign co-productions and global tax incentives.
  • Knowledge of the latest post-production and VFX technology.
  • Ability to manage at both a macro and micro level, displaying sufficient authority to oversee the bigger picture as well as paying due attention to specific issues as they arise.
  • A desire to champion and put in practise ITV’s Social Purpose commitments.
  • A curious and inquiring mind-set to take learnings from past productions in order to expand and grow.
  • Possess a good understanding of the media sector and relevant in-depth knowledge of current industry trends and issues relating to drama production.
