The team

Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It’s a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit based in the heart of Westminster, London. And finally, we produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for someone who loves technology to be part of a fast paced and dynamic ITV News team.  Working closely with operational and editorial colleagues at ITV Channel, you will be a problem solver and work across all technical areas from what’s gathered by a camera through to the delivery of content online and on air.

As a Production Specialist you will work as part of a multi-skilled team providing technical and craft, operational skills across all areas of our news and weather services.

We don’t expect you to know everything (there’s a great team in place to support you) but we do want commitment from you to understand our output, have the ability to quickly grasp new technology and always be willing to support people in their day to day work. You’ll be happy with varied working hours and be willing to travel when needed, within the ITV Channel region or beyond, to meet the needs of the newsroom.

To be eligible for this role, candidates will ideally be comfortable working through IT issues. Knowledge of operational areas such as editing, programme timing, vision, sound and traffic would be helpful but not essential.

You must be willing, and have the aptitude, to develop new skills (with appropriate training) and to move between different duties on a daily basis as the needs of a busy and vibrant news operation requires. You’ll also be happy to share your own skills with others.

As a Production Specialist, you will be a highly motivated individual as well as friendly and approachable.  You will be committed to working as part of a successful team, sharing the responsibility for supporting news production. Above all you will be an excellent communicator who is quick thinking and calm under pressure with strong and decisive decision-making skills.

If you have a passion for News and Technology and are looking to expand on your current skills and experience this could be the perfect role for you.

Apply now with your CV and a covering letter explaining what skills you could bring and why you are suitable for the role.

Please note, the rostered hours for this role will include weekend working, late shifts as well as early morning shifts and Bank Holidays.  The working pattern will incorporate late shifts (typically 00:00 finish) as well as early morning (typically 05:00 start). You are expected to provide your own means of transportation to and from your main workplace.
