The team

Active Pixel, part of ITV Studios, is a full service post production company based in a state of the art facility at MediaCityUK. We are dedicated to offering our clients a personal service that is second to none.

Our talented post production team covers all aspects of Post Production from Editing, Grading, Audio Dubbing, File Delivery and Transmission services; all utilising the latest creative technology; software and data transfer network with a dedicated technical and workflow team.

Each year, we deliver hundreds of hours of television to our clients across all genres of broadcast.

The role

To deliver a high level of client-focused support and services to productions using  Active Pixel’s facilities. 

Perform Quality Control of content for transmission, according to the technical  specifications of various broadcast and streaming partners. 

Record and playout content via video lines, including transmission playouts.  

To provide Media Management duties such as but not limited to, backup of camera material, ingest into Avid Media Composer / Premiere Pro, project  organisation, archive to and restore from LTO, prepare and export files for online  review and approval, creating sync maps, sync pulling from rushes and  supporting editors and producers

Key responsibilities:

  • To assist the senior department staff as and when required. 
  • To respond in a timely fashion to all requests from production personnel & post  production staff. Provide a high service level for clients with the ability to  prioritise workload across multiple projects. 
  • To ensure that operational efficiencies are considered and maintained whilst  providing the client with a high service level, to an excellent technical quality. 
  • To operate all the equipment in the media hub relevant to the role and to work  with clients to advise how best to achieve production requirements. 
  • To work with the senior management team and Production Support teams to  ensure there are effective, defined and written operational protocols, systems,  procedures and processes in place for the Media Hub team which are  understood and complied with. 
  • To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with appropriate technical  and departmental guidelines. 
  • To ensure all relevant post production housekeeping is in good order, such as  server media management, project backups and archiving and to report  utilisation. 
  • To work closely with Technical Support, ensuring all suites and operational areas  are fit for purpose. To report and track faults to ensure a successful and rapid  conclusion. 
  • To ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines. 
  • To use facility management software to record equipment and personnel usage,  reporting accurately on all tasks undertaken. 
  • To build and maintain strong relationships with Active Pixel’s clients and external  providers. 
  • To maintain a consistent and professional approach to meet the needs of the  customer.  
  • To assist senior members of the department in their roles and develop less  senior members of the technical team.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria):

  • Highly experienced within a post production facility or dept. with a thorough  understanding of the post production process and related technology.
  • A thorough knowledge of broadcast standards and file formats, camera codecs,  production processes and systems. 
  • Technically able to analyse video and audio quality to broadcast standards.

  • A good understanding of IT networks.

  • Ability to interpret instructions.

  • Excellent organisational skills with a proven attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrates ownership over process, workload, deadline and issue resolution 
  • Able to work within time and budget parameters 
  • Takes responsibility for administration, ensuring appropriate paperwork is  completed in a timely manner and colleagues / clients advised accordingly 

Communication:

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with the capacity to work with tact and  diplomacy. 

Resilience, Flexibility, Initiative and Problem Solving:

  • Ability to work in a flexible manner both autonomously and as a positive and  proactive member of a multi-skilled team  
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines. 
  • A strong desire and willingness to advance craft skills and extend technical  knowledge; a readiness to develop skills with new equipment, techniques and  emerging technology throughout the department. 
  • Willingness to undertake training in emerging technologies as appropriate and  share experience and working knowledge with colleagues to maximise the team’s  capability. 
  • An enthusiasm and a willingness to meet challenges with a positive attitude to  bring about an acceptable outcome. 
  • A willingness to push creative and technical boundaries. 
  • A proven self-motivated problem solver. 
  • An ability to analyse and solve work-related problems in an effective way, finding  solutions to previously un-encountered problems 
  • A proven ability to demonstrate a flexible approach and to cross disciplines as and  when required, adapting to changing priorities and requirements and revising  working practices to deliver innovative solutions. 
  • Is persistent and resourceful in order to deliver results and follows through to  ensure that quality standards are met 
  • Proactively seeks feedback on work completed and acts upon it

Unusual challenges/circumstances:

This role requires a dedicated approach where accommodating customer requirements involves being available as and when required. 

A shift pattern is in operation within the department and on occasion will require  overtime to meet production requirements including nights and weekends  and/or being contactable when necessary. 

There may be short notice changes to work schedules to react to production  requirements. 

May have to work across multiple locations or departments within a day.
