The role
This is a senior role within the Commercial Technology and Change engineering team, responsible for shaping and building our engineering capability across one or more delivery teams. A key aspect of this role is to define and communicate a clear vision of what these teams need to achieve and the ability to articulate this vision to others - set direction and establish goals that align with the CT&C's mission and objectives.
The role will entail but not be limited to:
Capability Development
- Manage our engineering capability across multiple development initiatives
- Work with other heads of department to agree team the nature and composition of your teams
Financial / Budget
- Support the wider CT&C engineering/architecture budget/cost control/forecasting processes
- Champion CT&Cs local finOps approach and align that across our budget controls
Supplier Governance
- Procurement, selection and technical management of our technical suppliers and partner relationships, holding them to account for their productivity, quality and commitments and ensuring a long-term successful partnership
Technical Direction and Delivery
- Align with and deliver on CT&Cs engineering strategy and vision
- Define and implement an efficient software engineering process across a number of delivery teams and align their output with our product roadmap, architecture, qa procedures and service management objectives
- Collaborate with the wider leadership team to implement our standard ways of working
- Proactively identify and enact product change to achieve service improvements and champion service quality:
Service Management & Operations
- Embed a service-level focused culture with DevSecOps and devOps at its heart, and ensure the app is well supported
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
Deep understanding and experience of key areas of responsibility identified for the role, such as Personal, Leadership & Culture Skills. Delivery Management and a deep understanding of Agile/Scrum Methodology. Vendor & Financial Management
Technical Skills:
- AWS Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and experience with a variety of AWS services, such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and others relevant to the project.
- UI & UX:
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in tools like CloudFormation or Terraform to automate and manage infrastructure.
- DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps principles, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Security Knowledge: Understanding of DevSecOps principles and AWS security best practices, and the ability to implement and oversee security measures within the infrastructure.
- Scalability: Experience in designing and implementing scalable and resilient architectures to handle varying workloads.
- Observability: Experience implementing highly available maintainable and supportable SaaS services featuring comprehensive monitoring, logging, alerting and observability features
Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)
- Knowledge of the UK broadcast industry & broadcast/OTT advertising market
- Knowledge of digital marketing and advertising industry
- Technical skills:
- Experience with Serverless compute (such as Lambda and Step Functions)
- GraphQL API servers and client libraries (e.g. Apollo).
- Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. Java, Python)
